Haven't seen your content in A LONG WHILE and man I don't remember too well what I liked when I first found your account and now that you came across my feed again, I'm thankful you did. I just hope your platform keeps growing and you expand your reach cause not only does it seem like you've found what you love making but you have the chance to redefine masculinity for young football fans who could really use that right now
This content piece did a lot for me. Just like you, I never saw myself as a writer. Mind you, I'm author and I've been writing poetry and attempted to write a book when I was in elementary school.
This piece helped me realize that I am a writer and I need to lean into that more. I also discovered a lot more about myself . This was a great piece. Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing your journey, I'm subscribing because I can honestly relate to a lot what you said, I'm doing the same things for myself as we speak.
I appreciate you, bro. Good luck on your journey, and I think it would be cool to get some updates on any breakthroughs, pitfalls, or achievements you experience. In this smaller community here on Substack we can kind of all support each other and move towards more ideal versions of our lives.
Gotta say you did your thing w this one Flem. Your narration is both introspective and thought provoking, and I think this one especially hit on some of those ‘ah-ha’ moments. When you hit on that point of burnout, I think something clicked for me as I’ve felt similarly. I work in Marketing/Comms, so a lot of my job is thinking creatively and writing. A huge passion of mine is writing—which clashes with the occupation I chose. I enjoyed that you provided valuable steps, I myself have been thinking of taking similar steps but I haven’t been able to push myself to do so. One thing I like that you got going on is formulating multiple arms, cuz that’s real important. I think that diversifying your portfolio, or taking a step further and progressively expanding your portfolio, is key. All this to say, I enjoyed reading + watching and am looking forward to what you got coming up.
Thanks for the fleshed out, thoughtful comment bro!
This part confused me a little:
“I work in Marketing/Comms, so a lot of my job is thinking creatively and writing. A huge passion of mine is writing—which clashes with the occupation I chose.”
It sounds like you're saying you write at your job, but is it the type of writing you truly want to do?
Lol no lie I think I confused myself writing this. I think what I was tryna say was I chose the path of marketing and comms because I had a strength in writing with an emphasis on creativity. But you’re right, it’s not the type of writing I enjoy. Copywriting, research and brand management are cool — which are parts of marketing and comms.
But what I truly enjoy is fiction, creating stories and creating characters. Unfortunately because I chose a path that requires creativity, it does feel like I get burnt out quickly with my creative brain. So what I meant to say was, me being in this line of work, while it aligns with strengths of mine, doesn’t exactly match up with the passion. Which is okay, cuz tbh I personally wanted the safe opportunity to make money in marketing/comms vs tryna be an author or something that I feel may not be guaranteed income. But it does cause that feeling of burnout and an overall desire to have more time to do some fiction writing.
I'll definitely keep posted. I'm writing my book now and I'll start posting my chapters that I'm working on in here just to be able get my audience to be able to preview what I'm writing about before the final edits. I'm learning to used this platform better than I did before and I'm excited to see how this idea will play out.
Umm definitely want to be able to support you and anyone who is in alignment of what we're doing on her. I've been loving the pivot you've done on your content. Great writing bro
